Off the map,
still on track.
A Porsche Cayenne that belongs at the golf club, rebuilt for places without tarmac. One couple, one route that writes itself along the way, and this is the logbook.

We didn't want to say "someday" one more time. So we picked a date, packed the Cayenne and simply drove off. No fixed plan, no end date. Just the road and whatever lies beyond it.
Three ways
to ride along.

Where we drove
Every stop on the map, connected by the line we actually drove.

The Cayenne
How a luxury SUV became an overlander. Lift, tyres, lights and a tent on the roof.
See the buildBuilt to go
further than sensible.

Front bumper & winch
A steel bumper with a 12,000 lbs winch. That's 5,443 kg of pull. Mud, sand, a stranded Fiat Panda: it all comes out.
OZZ spotlights
OZZ LED spots on the bumper. Flip the switch and night turns into day, and every deer within a kilometre knows we're coming.
The stripes
Two stripes over the bonnet and roof. Zero extra horsepower, but we look fast doing 30 on a gravel track.
Awning
A James Baroud awning that rolls out in a minute. Shade when it's hot, shelter when it pours: an instant living room either way.
Baja ditch lights
Baja Designs ditch lights by the windscreen. They light up the corners the headlights skip, and the goat standing in them.
Roof tent
A James Baroud hard-shell tent on the roof. Open in 30 seconds, closed in a minute. Faster than the kettle boils. In the rain we're just as quick, and still soaked.
MOLLE panel
A MOLLE panel in the rear window for tools, the shovel and recovery gear. Everything within reach, nothing rattling. Well, almost nothing.
5 cm body lift
A 5 cm body lift for more ground clearance. Rocks and ruts now pass underneath instead of through the floor. Getting into bed takes a small jump.
Rock sliders
Steel sliders along the sills. They take the hit on rocks so the paintwork doesn't, and double as a step up to bed.
BFGoodrich & OZ Racing
BFGoodrich All-Terrain tyres on OZ Racing wheels. Smaller rims, more sidewall: comfier on gravel and fewer punctures. Fewer. Not none.
Skid plate
A skid plate underneath guards the sump and everything else expensive. It sounds awful on rocks, but awful is cheaper than a new engine.
